  • Probe Impedance (Smith Chart)
  • Return Loss (dBS11) of radial probe
  • Maximum Extend of E-field on the groundplane that extends to the WG Wall

Effect of adding a 2-Section RF Choke

  • Probe Impedance (Smith Chart), note large shift in Probe impedance!
  • Return Loss (dBS11) of radial probe
  • Maximum extend of E-field with a 4-section RF Choke
  • Minimum extend of E-field with a 4-section RF Choke

         Usefull Information

  • Probe impedance from 3-1000 GHz. Below 170 GHz (IF) the WG is in cutoff, and the probe acts like a capacitor.
Above 430 GHz the probe impedance remains reasonably well behaved and stays > 75 Ω.
  • E-field inside the Fullheight waveguide with backshort in place.
  • Comparison between a 2-Section and 4-Section RF Choke.
