NAME

histogram - Histogram generation tool for CRUSH maps and more.

SYNOPSIS

histogram [options] <filename>

DESCRIPTION

Generate a histogram from a crush(1) or BoA FITS image. The histogram can be generated from any image plane of the map (see the -image option). Often, one may desire to pre-process the maps (e.g. by smoothing, filtering or clipping) using imagetool(1), before feeding it to the histogram tool.

The histogram data will be written as an ASCII table into a file named 'histogram-s2n.<source-name>.fits' in the same location as the input, unless the -out option is used to specify it otherwise.

OPTIONS

All options of imagetool(1) are also used by histogram. Additionally histogram defines the following option(s):
-bin=
Set the bin size in the units of the image plane. (1.0)
-image=
Select which image to use for the histogram (image name is one of: flux, s2n, rms, weight, or time). The default is s2n, for producing signal-to-noise histograms.
-out=
Set the output file's name, if not the default 'histogram-<image>.<source-name>.fits'.
-help
Provides a help scren similar to this one.

FILES

~/.crush2/startup/histogram/
Location of user-specific java(1) runtime configurations.
