Weather Data

Cerro Chajnantor

The candidate site for CCAT is at 5612 m altitude about 200 m ENE and 50 m below the summit of Cerro Chajnantor. To evaluate environmental and observing conditions there, a weather station and other instrumentation were deployed in 2006 May. The meteorological data are available here in graphic and in text files.

Other locations

In the past, weather stations have been deployed at several other sites of interest. Data from those stations are also available.

Cerro Negro

On the summit at 5050 m altitude (2004 December to present).

Cerro Toco

In the sulphur mine east south east of summit at 5430 m altitude (2004 May - June) and on summit (2002 March-July).

Cordon Honar

Shoulder at 5300 m altitude and east north east of summit (2005 May - 2006 April).

Caveats

These data are results from site characterization measurements made by Cornell and Caltech with the authorization of CONICYT and in cooperation with the University of Chile and others. They are available for use by the CCAT project and other researchers, but please note:
